Ellen Michel has a commitment to enrich society through Public Art projects which involve participation of others. Ellen is constantly on the look out for Public Arts Projects as a way of 'putting back something' into community. She is interested in creating beautiful spaces for people to experience within their everyday lives. Working to create art in public spaces where all can take part.
Engaging in community art.
For example Work for the Dole, Garden Sculpture and Mosaic Project at Watsonia Neighbourhood House is such a project which involved not only WFD participants but other members of community from all over Melbourne for a period of a year.
How Community Art enriches the environment, those who participate and those who view it.
Greencore Project at Mia Mia Gallery, Head of the Rainbow Serpent involving a young group of enthusiastic people interested in the environment. This was part of a bigger project of beautification of the environs of the Mia Mia Gallery including jarrah deck, pathway and indigenous planting.
